Do you remember times in your life when you saw the gap clearly? Whether it is good fortune or ability. Does it sink in when you see videos of people in the Sudan that are living in complete hopelessness and think, man I am fortunate to have been born here. Or maybe kids in school playing kickball that were always picked last when you were one of the first. I still see that today playing pickup basketball. Usually I'm in the upper echelon. Good genes, good parents, good environment.
Well yesterday I saw the gap again, though on a much lighter note. It is more than a gap really. More like a chasm. The Grand Canyon in fact. There is no chance I will ever bridge this gap. I would love to, but it just ain't happenin'.
Some people play soccer. We do. I thought I was pretty good. Not fantastic but well above average. Katie, even more so (for a girl anyway). I always believed myself to be one that could "hang" with someone playing at the next level. But this is amazing. The skill difference is really too wide for words. I watch these men play the game at the highest levels but never see their skill set aside. Set aside in something I would try to do. Even in my wildest dreams this isn't something I imagined myself being able to do.
Well here it is. Here is the gap.
Watch both videos in order. And let me introduce you to Wayne Rooney. He is a striker for Manchester United and the English national team. He just turned 22. Incredible.
So if you want to know if this was fixed...

Amazing video, though I do feel better knowing it took him 3 tries to hit the camera.
Also...i think you may take some heat at home for the "for a girl anyway" portion of your post!
Watch your back.
Well, she is a girl.
However all three tries were within...2 inches. From 60 feet. Yowzer.
I think Colin underestimates my skill level...even for a girl. I could take Rooney any day.
