What a mess!

Yesterday was full of messes at the Manly household. First, Katie decided to make hot chocolate by boiling everything (including marshmallows) in a pot on the stove top. She didn't even consider what would happen as the marshmallows started to expand...well let's just say we had a mushroom of marshmallows that overflowed onto the entire stove top. Ok, not so bad. Mess #2 came from our loving son who peed through his diaper and onto our new couch. Good thing we bought the expensive cleaning kit. We'll see how it works. Mess #3 was by far the worst and most bizarre. Ok, so we made chicken salads, and as usual, I(Katie) used my favorite Sturkey's dressing. I finished off one bottle and opened a new one. It's a creamy vinaigrette so I needed to shake it. I was doing an ultra-cool-salad-dressing-shaking dance for Jackson because he thought it was funny, and I noticed that it began to fizz up like a soda bottle would if you shook it. So, being the intelligent person I am, I took it into the sink to open it. But, as I continued to open it, it was frothing so furiously that I thought I would lose all of the dressing down the drain. Just then, the cap exploded off like a champagne bottle top and hit the ceiling above, along with adjacent walls and counter top, as well as the floor and everywhere else imaginable (all over me,too). Here's a picture that doesn't do it justice, but will give you a taste of what we had to clean up. Mess #4 was a fun episode of emptying my stomach into the commode last night. Where that came from, I have no clue. Last, Jackson pooped through his diaper, outfit and swaddling blanket and onto my hand in the wee hours of the morning.

What a day!

My sister had a similar incident with a ketchup bottle at a breakfast joint in Maryland one time. She shook it up, not realizing that cap wasn't screwed on, and it went EVERYWHERE. All over her face and even some guys leg in the booth across the way. Looked like a crime scene!

I used to make Colin's babyfood in the blender. Well It was green beans and the blendertop wasn't on tight. You can imagine the scene...to the ceiling, the cabinets, floor. hot green bean puree. Oh joy.
