Discovery

We spent some time Saturday setting up Jackson's Exersaucer. This was a baby shower gift from the Lehans and I've been anxiously awaiting this moment, where I could see my son in action with his toes on the floor, independently playing, suspended in his cushy Exersaucer seat! Here are some of his first reactions. Every day he explores more and more of the colorful toys in front of him. It's so cool to watch him discover. I wish we all had memories of when we first discovered things about the world around us, as simple as the image in the mirror. It's harder when you're older (like we are - Sheesh!) and we forget that there are so many things to still uncover in our world.

Another discovery: the wonder of a long afternoon nap! One day two weeks ago, Jackson slept for 3 hours straight in the afternoon! His naps typically run about 30-45 minutes. Imagine our wonder at the time we had on our hands! Now, for about two weeks he has napped consistently 1-2 hours every afternoon! What joy!

A third discovery: laughter. Now, Jackson's been working on this one for about 1.5 months I'd say. It began with one ha and a big smile, which took a lot of work to get out of him. Now it's developed into multiple ha's and is not as much work on our part to draw out of him. He still has yet to master the full belly laugh, but that will be fun to see.

The following video needs a caveat: I have to be really silly sometimes to get him to laugh, so please don't judge me on my silliness. Or my repetitiveness! Anyway, just enjoy the laughter of our almost-4-month-old.
