A couple of weeks ago you may have received an email from me about my cousin's son. He played in his first varsity game and started as well. It got a fair amount of media attention in the area, newspaper, local talk radio, and two of the major networks did bits on Mike and the team. Our local FOX even had Mike, coach and the five other seniors down for a live spot on the early morning show. Below is one of the local news station's stories. We're super proud of Mike and thrilled that we were able to make it over for the game. This is one of the few things I would have beat myself up over for years if I hadn't made it to the gym.
There is some home video and other footage that we're hoping we can get into a useable format to share. Keep your fingers crossed.
As a refresher, here was my email from the Saturday morning after the game:
So Katie, Jackson and I all went to the Wyoming basketball game last night to see Mike Ames in action. It couldn't have been any better. Packed house, biggest rival Indian Hill, and Mike Ames drops it from just inside the 3-point line hitting nothing but net. Beautyous. The crowd goes currrrazy. The student section is going nuts. The team is celebrating with Mike and the rest of the gym is crying. We were sitting right on the aisle between the Wyoming and Indian Hill section and even the Indian Hill fans recognized the great moment.
The local news was there, TV and paper, as it was a pretty big game for the league. Our friends the San Marcos said they saw the highlights and Mike hitting his jumper on teevee last night.
Here was the local article.
