Jackson and I took in a Miami Women's soccer game at Xavier University this past weekend. We had a great time watching the game and talking strategy, but for some reason he just kept asking about the "rule keeper" (aka the referee). Every 10 minutes it would be,"Mom, where's the rule keeper now?" I'd just smile and say,"He's still in the middle of the field wearing black, hun."
I talked with my old coach after the game and he joked with Jackson a bunch. He told Jackson to make sure he was working on his left foot in soccer...because apparently Jackson's mommy did not (and my coach just wanted to jab me a bit). Later that day we played soccer in the house and Jackson was the referee, blowing his whistle and pointing a lot. So cute.
He really wanted a hot chocolate while we were there but they didn't have any concessions. So we stopped at a dunkin' donuts on the way back and sat at a tall table and had hot chocolate. I asked him what his favorite part of the day was, and he said "This store!". So funny. I asked him, "What about the game?" and he said, "I liked talking with the coach."
I love being able to just sit and listen to my little guy one-on-one and notice what he notices. This outing made my day.
