All done

We saw the carpenter Thursday and he put in all of the baseboard, installed and framed the new fire door to the garage and framed the fireplace. The painters started Friday and came back Monday for the second coat. Katie took care of an issue Monday evening after the painters were done. Tuesday the new softer carpet was installed and the electrician put the finishing touches on the room this morning.

Here is a post-paint/ pre-carpet shot.

And finally the whole dealio. It almost feels like a new addition to us. Can't wait to get all the furniture back in there. It still bugs me that the cause of this whole thing was a leak in the roof. We were told by the previous owner it was fixed. Apparently not. And it's not that there was a leak, but that when we did get it fixed properly it came to a grand total of $185. That's it. Well, I guess we made some nice upgrades thanks to their shoddy caulk "fix." The carpet, the can lights, the fire door, dry wall as opposed to the old paneling, insulation in the exterior wall (there was NONE, hello?).

Now it's back to the normal house things. At least I took advantage of all the experts that came through and got some handy tips. And overall the experience was a good one. The general contractors knew what they were doing and had assembled a good (professionally and socially) crew to handle the work. It'll be nice to not have the couch in the kitchen or everything else in our living room.
