A few quick hits

I'm loving one of Jackson's new phrases. "Thank you." It's incredibly sweet and sincere. He sort of swallows the "th" though, so it sounds a bit more like "mank you" or something. He uses it constantly, whether it is necessary or not. "Let's put your shoes on." "Thank you." "We don't scream when Liam is sleeping." "Thank you." If I'm the one that is supposed to say thank you, he still says thank you, so we're also working on "you're welcome." Any sort of verbal transaction results in a thank you. My favorite may be when I hand him a basketball when we're shooting hoops.

A few nights ago Liam called me in for a little middle of the night help. It's never fun scrambling out of bed but at least this one was easy. He just wanted to play a quick game of 2am "locate and return the pacifier." But as I looked in on him he was thumping his little legs onto his mattress with great gusto. In the almost pitch black room I saw these little sparks from his feet as the friction of his PJs created a little fireworks show. Unexpected but memorable.

Bedeeum rolled over for the first time last week. It sure has taken forever but we think the reason is a mixture of how content he is and his twenty pounds of ballast. He did it after he woke up from an evening nap. I had gone in to check on him and saw he was on his stomach. Knowing how excited Katie would be I left him for her to unearth. The video below is her discovery. You'll see an annoyed Momma at the beginning of the video. This doesn't do it justice. I kept delaying her because I was trying to get the camera and was telling her not to go in. She was getting really frustrated with me because she had a crying babe waiting, but the video was worth the momentary Mom wrath. (Sorry the video is so dark.)

We took a trip down to the toy store the other day and Jackson knew our destination. Last minute we decided to pop in on some friends who recently had a kiddo we hadn't yet met. So we told J of our detour and this was his response, "toy store, no babies, toy store." We heard this a few times but he was a good sport and just ate his goldfish while we met little Joy.

Halloween follow-up: Jackson occasionally checks the front window to see if the kids are coming for another round of candy. Saturday we were visited by girl scout troop 191 collecting toothpaste and non-perishables for a local food bank. Jackson of course was thrilled we had more "kiiiiiddddddsssss!"I went to the pantry and picked out a couple of things and went back to hand them over. Jackson watched this exchange and as soon as they left ran back to the pantry where we have kept the leftover candy in the bucket. He immediately grabbed it and started off for the front door fully intending to hand out more candy. He probably thought, "Dad, beans, you gave them beans? They wanted skittles." So cute.

Here are a few other pics. Jackson and Momma sharing some ice cream. The first tricycle ride down the sidewalk. Still working on getting the pedals all the way around but he gets it occasionally.

Bree, Liam is looking like he's gonna be a big boy. I just thought you'd want to let the organization know he is showing some left-handed tendencies, so they might want to get his name in the system to keep an eye on him.

we have that same trike. my mom was down for almost a month before grace was born and on my birthday she and jerry FINALLY got elijah to peddle it... he's on a bike now, but every once and a while he still tears around on the trike. once he gets it, watch out...warn the neighborhood cats!!!!

That's funny. Katie's Mom picked it up for Jackson awhile back and every now and again we'd let him sit on it in the basement. He'd been getting close so we figured we'd let him try outside before the weather gets too cold. It's an adventure just to watch him try and mount it.

And if he takes out a couple of cats, well, sometimes you just have to make that sacrifice.

I finally saw Liam roll over today! Finally! I think he had rolled over 5 times for Colin before I got to see it.

Yay! Lefties!

Don't waste that talent, Colin... Get him tossing long balls in the spring! I'll send a scout over in May. ;-)
