football players need airbags
We both thought this New Yorker article was really interesting, long but a good read. It makes me reconsider wanting my sons to play football. Or if they play, maybe they should follow in their uncle's footsteps and just take care of the kicking responsibilities. While kickers seem to be the goat more often than the hero, the plus side is you're always well hydrated.

I disagree...kickers are very often the hero of games. You just hear more about the failures.
I think an NFL kicker is just as important as a solid QB sometimes. So many games come down to a last second kick. Sure teh QB has to get them into position...but its ultimatly up to the kicker to put it through the uprights.
