Day 1: Weeding, leveling the ground, planting the seeds, finding wormies.
First wormy found.
Partial wormy...by accident of course.
Big dirt clod!
Planting yellow bean seeds...scatter method.
Planting green bean seeds...verrry deliberately.
Day 2: Spreading more dirt over the seeds, poking lots of holes in bags, spreading mulch.
A highlight of the gardening day is always poking holes in the dirt and mulch bags. I can set each boy on the task of opening one bag and it will give me at least 15 minutes of work I need to do.
Liam does a little dance and whacks away at the bag with a little hand rake, poking millions of tiny holes until he can rip it open with his fingers. He does one whack for each syllable of his mantra "oo-za es-sa" ...who knows where he came up with that one!
Jackson would rather poke at it with the butt of his rake. He even took a running stab at it at one point.
They are excellent rakers and smoother-outers. Jackson is very careful about how evenly the dirt is spread. Liam would rather sit in the dirt and toss it around with his "digger".
We'll keep you updated on what comes out of all of our hard work...hopefully lots of beans, peas, tomatoes and sunflowers!
