This is just some commentary from a proud Momma.
Our boy Jackson is just so verbal, it always amazes me. Maybe because I never considered myself a verbal guru...numbers are more of my thing. Anyway, here are some observations that have just amazed me:
Over the summer Jackson has really gotten into rhyming. Give him a word and he will give you a whole slew of rhyming real words or rhyming nonsense words. Either way, I thought that was a cool skill to have.
Well, now he is into changing one syllable or letter in a word in mid sentence. It just came out of no where, when one day he said to us, "I love youk." It's become a joke around here since Kevin Youkilis began his baseball career here in Cinci and, nicknamed "Youk", it sounds like Jackson is saying he loves Kevin Youkilis. Funny. Now we say in response, "We love youk toook."
Colin said to me tonight that Jackson sang the whole itsy bitsy spider song with words that were altered by a letter or syllable. For example, "the iksy biksy grider climbed up the pader tout..."
Tonight while we were reading in bed, he didn't want to be put on the spot to read part of the book (sometimes we ask him to read a page that he's read a thousand times because he knows by heart what it says) so instead he read the page with his altered word trick. Funny boy.
Then before I left his room, he riddled me with some serious questions (they always come up at bedtime and I think this is what keeps him awake until 10pm!). Questions like, "Why do girls have boobies?" 'What are chins for?" "Where he live (referring to God)?" Everything is always why why why until you can't explain it any more. He got a kick out of the word God tonight for some reason, saying it over and over again, until finally he said, "Oh, God. I God it!" I think it was his first intended pun.
